Caving at Gua Tempurung
One of my favorite hobby is to explore caves. And at such time of the year, I've decided to do that. My Journey starts off with me waking up from bed, and at the early time of the day. It was hard to get up, but knowing that such adventure is awaiting me, i'd have to drag myself up regardless. Actually it was a sleepless night, knowing such excitement awaits me.
Off I go, went and brush my teeth and wash my face, getting everything ready and packed up. Well, the day before, I had everything ever needed selected from what I should bring and what not to bring. I took a look at my desk and wonder, if I bring those electronic gadgets, will it benefit me? As i sat and ponder, more time was wasted. I then ran through some of the things i deemed necessary.
I looked at my phone and wondered, will it work? Like, you know, we're gonna bring this to the cave. But I couldn't survive without the phone. I mean, who could survive without a phone? And hey, it could be a light source when in times of trouble right? Haha. But then i thought again, how am i supposed to charge this thing up? I didn't have a battery pack, and those things are not very popular. Even if it did, it would be very costly.
After that, I saw my camera. The good'ol days when DSLR wasn't available at a reasonably cheap price, guess what I used? Yes pocket camera. If i remember correctly, it was the 3MP type. Yes, 3 megapixel ! What da ya know? That baby is the bomb those days. But it cost also a bomb and could've been a DSLR. But well it was ok. Decent Imagery and ancient technology.
There was more gadgets than I could possibly think off. And i seemed to be missing the most important things. My daily change of clothes. As with any camping, the change of clothes is the one thing every camper dread. I mean c'mon, don't you wanna go just like that? Heheh. Kidding. So i began folding those spare change of clothes and stuffing it in the bag. Well guess what? The bag is now filled with so many things. Handphone, Charger, Camera, Charger again, spare batteries, and of course a bunch of clothings. I had to remind myself that this is just an overnight thing. One night only. Get it right.
On to the present day, the day where out adventure begins! My friend picked me up from home, and we drove to find for breakfast. We quickly ate, and zoomed to our destination. Gua Tempurung. The ever famous, maybe overated Gua. Upon arrival, we were greeted with awe, as if it was our first time seeing a cave. Well true enough, it was our first sight. The entrance is just way too awesome. A big staglamite thingy like a mouth wide open, as if it was telling us, come in ... Ok eerie, maybe just a little.
We setup our base there at the entrance, not sure if we're allowed to do that, but hey it's mother nature. We prepared everything we need like food and stuff and began cooking. As we cooked and had fun, suddenly there was some dropping from above, and we thought, hey extra ingredient from staglamite. But no ! To our horror it was bat shat. Yes bat shat. Like just OMG, we stared closely and there were lots of bats hanging just above us. The look on our face is priceless, as the older adults looked at us and laughed. This is a cave, what were you expecting? Cave .. batman .. that sortof thing ..
We slept for the day, and woke up in the morning, ready to go in. Man it was just so dark, its scary. Accompanied by the sound of bats ultrasonic soundwave and flying sound. Luckily we had our torchlight on, and we flashed at them. Well, they dont give a care to what we did.
